The largest and most important city in Dalmatia is Split, best known for many historical attractions and landmarks. Recently the area has become most popular for sailing and windsurfing as visitors are bringing more adventure into this peaceful and historical city. Split boasts beautiful coast, beaches, museums, old churches, as well as archaeological sites.

The Roman Palace
The Roman Palace erected by Emperor Diocletian in the 4th century. This imperial residence and fortified camp appear mystical and intriguing with its maze-like streets. The structures of the palace are very well preserved thus makes it a place to be taken back in time and imagine how the imperial families resided.
Petristyle Square
The main open square within Diocletian’s Palace and central meeting place for citizens. Surrounded by colonnade of six columns to the eastern and western sides and an arch decorated with garlands in the center.
Cathedral of St. Duje
Built inside the remains of the mausoleum of the Roman emperor Diocletian and is said to be one of the oldest ones in the world. This cathedral is famous also for its bell tower located on the eastern side of the square and is the symbol of the city.
The Temple of Jupiter
Located in the courts of the imperial section of the of the palace referenced in location one. The temple was transformed into a baptistery and campanile was converted to a cathedral in 653 by the first bishop of Split. This site is also famous for the frescoes, pulpit, and Romanesque carvings.
